Zionism:
Zionism is the national movement of the Jewish people that supports the re-establishment of a Jewish homeland in the territory defined as the historic Land of Israel. Zionism emerged in the late 19th century in Central and Eastern Europe as a national revival movement, in reaction to anti-Semitic and exclusionary nationalist movements in Europe. Theodor Herzl is considered the founder of the Zionist movement. He published a book called Der Judenstaat in 1896 that envisioned the founding of a future independent Jewish state during the 20th century.
After almost two millennia of the Jewish Diaspora residing in various countries without a national state, the Zionist movement was founded in the late 19th century by secular Jews, largely as a response by Ashkenazi Jews to rising anti-Semitism in Europe. The political movement was formally established by the Austro-Hungarian journalist Theodor Herzl. In its early stages, Zionism expanded rapidly and supporters considered setting up a Jewish state in the historic territory of Palestine.
The Zionists created an alliance with Great Britain an encouraged European Jews to immigrate to Palestine. However, the alliance became strained as Britain realised the implications of the Jewish movement for Arabs in Palestine but the Zionists persisted. The movement was eventually successful in establishing Israel on May 14, 1948, as the homeland for the Jewish people. By the early 21st century, more than 40% of the world’s Jews live in Israel, more than in any other country.
Formation of the State:
On 29th November 1947, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution which was to assist in the formation of an independent State of Israel. The Jewish Agency accepted the plan, however the Arab League and the Arab Higher Committee of Palestine rejected it, and indicated that they would reject any other plan of partition. On the following day, 1st December 1947, the Arab Higher Committee proclaimed a 3-day strike, and Arab gangs began attacking Jewish targets. The Jews were initially on the defensive as civil war broke out, but in early April 1948 moved onto the offensive. The Arab Palestinian economy collapsed and 250,000 Palestinian Arabs fled or were expelled.
On 14th May 1948, the day before the expiration of the British Mandate, David Ben-Gurion, the head of the Jewish Agency, declared “the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz-Israel, to be known as the State of Israel.” The only reference in the text of the Declaration to the borders of the new state is the use of the term Eretz-Israel.
“Husbands Love Your Wives”

Some years ago I was in a little Gospel hall where a man gave a short word. He confessed that he had not been treating his wife correctly and asked her forgiveness. It was a very moving confession not something you usually hear. ”. I was a young Christian at that time, just a babe in Christ and this confession was a revelation. It was a shock. How honest, how revealing! How real! How humbling.
The word of God warns us that our prayers will be hindered if we do not honour our wives as the weaker vessel!

Christ instructed husbands to love their wives, even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify it and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word. Ephesians 5 v 25
Today marriage is on the scrapheap and partners are the latest vogue. Divorce is soaring to new heights and broken relationships are causing immense and incalculable harm. Children are the poor victims of our low morals, yet all of this is accepted as the norm. What dreadful damage has been done to so many young lives!
The wife also is exhorted to be in subjection to her husband and of a chaste conversation, the ornament of a meek and quite spirit, which in the sight of God is a great price; 1 Peter 1 v 1/ 4
God’s word clearly sets out the demeanour and example of both husbands and wives. Loving your wife as Christ loved the church and gave him self for it. Christ loved the church so much, that he left heavens glory to humble himself and die on a cruel cross for sinners, thus creating the church. He ever lives to make intercession for us.
Can our prayers be hindered? Is this possible? Yes, because of how I treat my wife? Husbands love your wives.
Love is always thinking of the other person. It suffers long, and is kind, it envies not, does not vaunt itself, does not behave itself unseemly, seeks not her own is not easily provoked, it thinks no evil; rejoices not in iniquity but in the truth, it bears all things, believeth all things, hopes all things. Love never fails
Husbands, let us give honour to our wives, let us love them, more! Its Gods commands.
